Who This Is For

If you're ready to do more than wait and see…

This is evidence-based, whole-person memory care combining the internationally validated Bredesen ReCODE protocol with cutting-edge neurotherapy, photobiomodulation, metabolic assessment, and functional rehabilitation ~ because cognitive decline rarely has a single cause.

Thorough, proactive, and built around what the latest science now makes possible.

You've noticed changes in your memory or thinking and want to understand what's driving them.

You've been told you have Subjective Cognitive Impairment (SCI) and want objective assessment and a proactive plan

You have a diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and want to explore every evidence-informed option available

You have a family history of Alzheimer's and want to be proactive about your brain health now

You want a programme grounded in published clinical research ~ not hope, but evidence

The Science Behind This Programme

Medicine's understanding of cognitive decline has fundamentally shifted.

The Bredesen ReCODE protocol ~ developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen and validated in a 2025 randomised controlled trial ~ takes a fundamentally different approach. Rather than targeting a single mechanism, it identifies and addresses the multiple underlying contributors to cognitive decline across biochemical, metabolic, inflammatory, hormonal, and lifestyle domains.

Initial Consultation with Dr. Harris

Dr. Harris will explore your presentation across all four dimensions ~ biochemistry (metabolic health, inflammatory markers, hormonal function), neurophysiology, lifestyle, and connection & flourishing. By the end, there is usually a clear picture of where to focus.

Brain Science Appointment

Our neurotherapy team will conduct QEEG brain mapping to identify neurophysiological patterns associated with cognitive decline, Phase Amplitude Coupling assessment measuring temporal-hippocampal coupling fundamental to memory consolidation, and HRV assessment of autonomic nervous system function.

Diagnostic Consultation ~ The Full Picture

Dr. Harris draws all threads together ~ biochemical results, cognitive testing, brain mapping, and clinical history ~ synthesised into a complete and coherent picture. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what is affecting your brain health and a systematic, evidence-based programme to address it.

Memory Programme FAQs

Your Questions Answered

Common questions about the NeuroBalance Memory Programme.

Do I need a referral to see NeuroBalance?
No referral is required. You can contact us directly to book a consultation. We welcome self-referrals from adults across New Zealand and Australia. If you have an existing relationship with a GP or specialist, we're happy to liaise with them — but it's not a prerequisite.
What is neurotherapy, and how does it work?
Neurotherapy (also called neurofeedback or EEG biofeedback) is a non-invasive training approach that teaches the brain to self-regulate by providing real-time feedback on its own activity. Sensors on your scalp read your brainwave patterns, and the feedback — delivered via sound, visual cues, or both — helps your brain learn healthier, more efficient states through repetition. It's safe, drug-free, and supported by a substantial body of clinical research.
What is a QEEG brain map?
A QEEG (Quantitative EEG) is a detailed recording of your brainwave activity across 19 sites on the scalp, captured at rest and sometimes during a task. The data is compared against a normative database to identify patterns of dysregulation — areas where your brain may be over-aroused, under-aroused, or poorly connected. This map guides our therapy planning and is used across our ADHD, Sleep, and Memory programmes.
Can NeuroBalance help with ADHD in adults?
Yes. Adult ADHD is one of our most common presentations. Our ADHD Assessment programme uses a combination of QEEG brain mapping, ERP testing, TOVA performance testing, and clinical interviewing to build a comprehensive picture — well beyond a symptom checklist.
How long does it take to see results?
This varies depending on the complexity of your presentation and the programme you're undertaking. Stress Recovery clients often notice improvements within the first 1–2 week package. Neurofeedback for ADHD or sleep typically shows measurable change within 10–20 sessions, with significant improvement by 30–40 sessions.
Is neurotherapy covered by insurance or ACC?
Some neurotherapy services may be partially covered depending on your health insurance policy. We recommend checking with your insurer directly. ACC coverage may apply in specific cases, particularly where neurotherapy is part of therapy following a traumatic brain injury. We can provide detailed invoices and clinical documentation to support claims.
Can I access NeuroBalance if I'm not based in Dunedin?
Yes. We regularly support clients from across New Zealand and Australia. Initial consultations can be conducted via telehealth, and certain assessments can be completed online before you travel. Outreach clinics in Christchurch and Auckland are coming soon.
How is neurotherapy different from medication?
Medication can be highly effective and remains an important tool — we work collaboratively with prescribers, not against them. Neurotherapy works differently: rather than chemically altering brain activity from the outside, it trains the brain to regulate itself more efficiently over time.
